Fairhurst Buckley reports 68% growth on 5th Anniversary of merger.

This month marks a significant milestone for Fairhurst Buckley as the company celebrates five years since the successful merger of two well-established Stockport businesses. The union of Fairhurst Estates and Buckley Commercial in 2020 created South Manchester’s largest firm of Chartered Surveyors and Property Consultants.

Both firms brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table. Fairhurst Estates had been delivering a wide range of property and estate management services throughout the UK, while Buckley Commercial was known as Stockport’s leading commercial property agency. The two companies had deep roots in the area, with Buckley Commercial operating from Stockport town centre since 1995 and Fairhurst since 2002.

Operating from Acorn Business Park in the heart of Stockport, the combined entity launched as Fairhurst Buckley with Nigel Blyth as Managing Director, overseeing the building services and consultancy departments, while David Buckley as Director, took charge of the commercial property sales and letting side of the business.

Director, John MacMillan joined the business shortly after the merger to lead the Building Consultancy and Project Management team which has subsequently doubled in size over the past five years,

Further growth in 2024 saw Luke Atkinson promoted to the board having expanded his role from Head of Finance to also managing the day-to-day management of the firms Helpdesk which deals with reactive maintenance and statutory compliance for numerous key clients with national property portfolios.

Reflecting on the journey so far, Nigel Blyth said:

“The merger of our two companies culminated in the launch of Fairhurst Buckley on 17th March 2020, just days before the first lockdown. It wasn’t the ideal timing, but despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the past five years have seen the business thrive and grow significantly. Between December 2020 and December 2024, our turnover has increased by an impressive 68%!”

Stockport’s resilience and growth have played a key role in Fairhurst Buckley’s success. Nigel added:

“While many towns and cities across the UK are grappling with the decline of the high street, Stockport is bucking the trend. The town’s ambitious £1bn investment and regeneration programme has boosted confidence among investors and developers. We are excited to be part of Stockport’s ongoing transformation and are planning for the next phase of our own growth.”

Whilst the agency side of the business specialises in the sales and lettings of properties across Stockport and South Manchester, it’s wider team of Chartered Surveyors, Project Managers, Commercial Property Experts, and RICS Registered Valuers continue to offer UK-wide property services.

The company is also recognised as one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist property advice to the Roadside, Automotive and Trade Counter property sectors, as well as being trusted advisors to several National Charities.

Looking to the future, Fairhurst Buckley is committed to further growth by expanding its range of property-related services both locally and nationally whilst continuing to play a pivotal role in Stockport’s dynamic property market.
