New charity partner announced.
We are pleased to announce Fairhurst Buckley have selected EGG as their company’s new charity partner.
EGG – Engage. Grow. Go – is a Stockport-based homelessness charity with an innovative person-centred approach to homelessness and rough sleeping, helping people across the Greater Manchester region.
Their approach is different to many other charities in that they are not just looking to provide a temporary fix, such as a bed for the night. EGG are seeking to provide a longer-term solution to people in need, helping people off the streets, into their own homes and onto work or self-employment.
EGG was founded in 2021 by Jonathan Billings who, with over 20 years of working within the homeless community, realised that many of the organisations currently working with homeless people are only able to offer a short-term fix to the ‘symptoms’ of homelessness, and there was nothing set in place to tackle the problem on a wider scale. Jonathan’s team of staff and volunteers are committed and passionate about making a real difference by changing people’s lives.
Founder Jonathan Billings is delighted that Fairhurst Buckley has selected EGG as their official charity partner:
“I’d like to say a big thank you to Nigel Blyth and the team at Fairhurst Buckley for choosing to support us and our work.
“Unfortunately, homelessness is a big issue in our area. Manchester has some of the highest levels of homelessness in the UK with around 7,407* people (one in 74 people) experiencing homelessness. We are passionate about working to reduce those numbers and giving as many homeless people as we can, a chance to turn their lives around.
“As a charity with no government or council funding, we can only grow and support more people out of homelessness with the generosity of individuals and businesses like Fairhurst Buckley.”
For the team at Fairhurst Buckley, it was an easy decision explains Managing Director Nigel Blyth:
“As Fairhurst Buckley, we have a responsibility to manage a successful business for the good of the team and our clients. But we also recognise that we have a duty to share some of our success among those who are perhaps less fortunate and facing challenges in their lives.
“Jonathan introduced us to EGG, his motivation for setting up the charity, its aim to reduce homelessness, its purpose to respect people in dire circumstances and the opportunity to give people back their self-worth.
“It was a unanimous decision for the whole team, and we are all looking forward to supporting EGG over the coming year.”
EGG will only work with clients who are dedicated to putting in the hard work required for them to rehabilitate back into society. Their tailored approach to mentoring and rehabilitation can only work if the client is 100% committed! Once EGG starts helping a homeless person, they become an EGG client giving specialist, one-to-one mentoring that aids the client on their journey, helping them to achieve their goals, no matter the hurdles are.
If you would like to learn more about how you or your organisation can support EGG, please contact Jonathan Billings.
