Fairhurst Buckley Expands Team with Key Appointment to Building Consultancy Department.

Fairhurst Buckley, a leading Stockport-based commercial property consultancy and the largest firm of RICS Chartered Surveyors in South Manchester, continues to grow its team.

Chris Hobbs has recently joined the firm’s Building Consultancy department. His appointment reflects Fairhurst Buckley’s ongoing business growth, investment, and ambition – factors that continue to attract high-calibre talent despite a highly competitive recruitment market.

Chris brings with him over seven years of industry experience and holds an MSc in Building from the University College of Estate Management.  He began his career at INTEGA Building Consultancy in Manchester City Centre, where he developed a solid grounding in a wide range of services, including dilapidations, acquisition surveys, schedules of condition, and contract administration.

In 2022, Chris embraced remote working by joining Bournemouth-based firm Sircle. Working from his base in the Northwest, he managed a varied client portfolio, delivering project management and contract administration for refurbishment projects. Notably, he led a two-year programme of Latent Defect Surveys covering over 1,000 newly built residential properties.

John MacMillan, Director at Fairhurst Buckley and Head of the Building Consultancy department, welcomed Chris to the team:

“Over the past three years, we’ve significantly outperformed our business plan in terms of growth. We’re continuing to win contracts from clients across the UK, which is fantastic. But with growth comes the challenge of ensuring we attract and retain skilled and experienced professionals.

“Recruitment has been especially tough in our sector, so I’m thrilled that we’ve secured Chris’s appointment—he’s sure to be a great asset to the business.”

Throughout his career, Chris has delivered numerous Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) surveys for both public and private sector clients. His appointment supports Fairhurst Buckley’s response to growing national demand and aligns with its long-term expansion strategy.

Commenting on his new role, Chris said:

“I’m joining the business at an exciting time, with plenty of opportunities for continued growth. I’m really looking forward to working closely with John and the rest of the building consultancy team, and to contributing to the firm’s ongoing success.”
