Fire Alarm Servicing
For fire detection and alarm systems it is recommended a service by a competent provider is carried out every 6 months to comply with BS 5839-1 (the British Standard for fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings in
non-domestic premises) This is to provide sufficient warning in the event of a fire.
Fire Extinguisher Service
The BS 5306 defines travel distance, and the minimum number of extinguishers required per square metre. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 governs fire safety matters in England and Wales. Occupants of a building should never be located further than 30 metres from the nearest extinguisher. Extinguishers should only be discharged in case of an emergency to provide a safe exit of the building not to fight fire.
Fire Risk Assessment
In the UK, fire risk assessments are mandatory under the regulatory reform (Fire Safety) order 2005. This law ensures that non-domestic properties including workplaces and commercial buildings have been assessed and have sufficient measures in place to safeguard individuals from fire related incidents.
Emergency Lighting Test
The BS 5266 Standard provides comprehensive guidelines and regulations for installing, maintaining, and testing emergency lighting systems in commercial premises within the UK, to help with evacuation of a building in the event of an emergency.
