As a qualified Building Surveyor, Jacob graduated from the University of Salford in 2019 and is an intrinsic member of the team. His responsibilities cover the full range building surveying services including contract administration, project management, and the preparation of condition surveys.

Prior to joining Fairhurst Buckley, Jacob’s previous experience enables him to provide support across the business. Within a well-established estate agency, he took on Building Surveys, Condition and Homebuyer reports. A slight deviation from his chosen career path, Jacob was appointed to a role in Asset Management for one of the largest Real Estate Investment Trusts in the country. Protecting his clients’ investments, Jacob managed around 1250 properties in the north of England ensuring the properties were maintained to the highest standards, providing a schedule of works where necessary, and homing new tenants as efficiently and as smoothly as possible.

Away from the office, sport is high on the agenda, for both team success, to benefit his chosen charity and for personal fulfilment.

Even at a young age his competitive spirit was evident: at the age of 16, Jacob competed in a national swim competition finishing 3rd in the country “I felt like I could sleep for a week afterwards.”

Being a dedicated Oldham Athletic fan, weekends have been a lot less exciting in recent seasons, leaving time for his own pursuits. As well as playing football, swimming, skiing and boxing, he likes to set himself new goals, such as the Manchester 10k, The Great North Swim Half Marathon in Lake Windermere and the Manchester Half Marathon. So far raising over £1,500 for Cancer Research, Jacob admits “I’m not sure if I’m really motivated or just a little mad.”

A big fan of hiking and having completed some of the largest mountains across the UK, the next step is to complete the UK Three Peaks, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon all within the same 24hours. No doubt inspiration will be drawn from former SAS hard man Ant Middleton, author of ‘Zero Negativity’ – “an amazing book demonstrating how to conquer life’s challenges.”
